Performance

*A dream from September 6, 2008

I dreamed I was at IHOP but that the prayer room was a theater. A fellow staff member was on stage and he was about to perform and give the IHOP people a concert. The audience was all watching him instead of being engaged with God. I went behind the prayer room where there was an observation window. The staff member started to sing a song by Sufjan Stevens called “John Wayne Gacy Jr” about the serial killer. I was horrified that he was singing this song in the prayer room. The man’s fiancé was sitting next to me. I was wanting to get him to stop singing the song and was complaining about it to her. She responded with “but listen to the lyrics. They are very spiritual.” The last four lines of the song are something like “but I’m just like John Wayne. I have secrets hidden under my floor boards.”~ Brooke

Worship House

I had a dream that I went to this house where I sometimes go to worship with others. The man who owns the house came out and began welcoming me and seemed genuinely happy to see me. As I turned to see the house, however, it was no longer red but black. I don’t think the color of the house had anything to do with a presence of evil or sin but basically was just saying that though the Lord was telling me to not go there for awhile, it wasn’t because I was not loved or accepted. ~Brooke

The color black can sometimes represent sin or evil and at other times it might mean simply “no”.
